Why Have Acrylic Membrane Switches Become the “Face” of So Many Electronic Devices?

Acrylic (PMMA, polymethyl methacrylate), also known as “organic glass,” has a light transmittance of over 92%, providing soft lighting and clear visibility. This gives membrane switches with acrylic surfaces a natural “translucency” and a glass-like texture, significantly enhancing the product’s premium appearance. At the same time, it features high surface hardness and scratch resistance, with wear resistance comparable to that of aluminum, allowing it to maintain a brand-new appearance over the long term.
