Steering wheel buttons

Membrane switches are primarily employed in automotive interior control interfaces, spanning multiple scenarios including the cockpit, central control area, and seating. Their core function is to deliver lightweight, cost-effective, and reliable human-machine interaction.

The automotive interior environment presents fluctuations in temperature and humidity alongside physical friction, conditions which membrane switches can reliably withstand.

Temperature and humidity resistance: Operates across a broad temperature range from -40°C to 85°C while offering waterproof and moisture-resistant properties, adapting to humid conditions such as window fogging and air conditioning condensation.

Abrasion and corrosion resistance: Surfaces typically employ wear-resistant materials like PET. Even after prolonged pressing or exposure to oils (such as steering wheel buttons coming into contact with hand oils), they maintain their appearance and functionality without issues like lettering peeling or button failure.

Slim and Space-Saving: Typically measuring just 0.5–1.5mm thick, these panels are significantly slimmer than traditional mechanical buttons. They can be seamlessly integrated into confined spaces like steering wheels and door panels without compromising interior design volume.

Customisable Form: Designed to meet automotive manufacturers' specifications, these panels can be crafted into circular, curved, or bespoke shapes. They may incorporate illuminated characters or LED indicators, effortlessly complementing the interior aesthetics of diverse vehicle models.

Clear tactile feedback: Utilising internal spring-loaded contacts or conductive adhesive, they provide distinct tactile confirmation upon press (e.g., a subtle click or springy response), preventing accidental operation.

Integrated design reduces button count: Multiple functions (e.g., climate control temperature + fan speed adjustment) can be consolidated onto a single panel, minimising overall button count within the cabin. This creates a more streamlined control interface and reduces the frequency of driver eye movement.
