Membrane switches are a type of contact switch manufactured by printing conductive paste circuits onto flexible polycarbonate or polyester film.

Membrane switches feature a planar, multi-layer, sealed structure, serving as an integrated assembly for electronic control systems. They combine push-button switches, panel function markings, transparent readout windows, indicator light apertures, and circuitry into a single unit.

Membrane switches typically achieve a lifespan exceeding one million operations. This longevity stems from the switch action being solely achieved through vertical deflection of the elastic membrane. Although the elastic film undergoes millions of cycles of creep, the magnitude of this creep is minimal, ranging from 0.1 to 0.3mm (equivalent to the switch travel). Coupled with the judicious selection of materials, this creep remains far below the film's yield point. Consequently, the film material can withstand over one million cycles without deformation. Furthermore, the switch contacts engage vertically, resulting in negligible wear. whilst screen-printed contacts achieve sufficient thickness. An additional layer of conductive carbon is applied over the silver paste contacts to enhance conductivity and self-lubrication. Consequently, the lifespan of membrane switches exceeds that of mechanical contact switches by a factor of tens.

Membrane switches can embody personalisation through colour and pattern design according to the user's concept, showcasing a synthesis of material aesthetics, decorative appeal, and craftsmanship in their ornamental effect.

Digital window membrane switches utilise polycarbonate (PC) and polyester (PET) as core materials, combining heat and cold resistance, environmental friendliness, insulation, abrasion resistance, and dustproofing. They feature waterproofing, dustproofing, corrosion resistance, and extended lifespan (exceeding 5 million presses), supporting digital display functions (e.g., LED backlighting, touchscreen displays).
